Coretta in hospital: City of Atlanta stands to save Millions...
Famous coat-tail rider Coretta Scott King in the hospital after suffering a stroke. A city holds it's breath with the prospect of saving untold millions in special police details, plastic surgery, a cadre of lawyers and general asshattery.

Why the hatred for the sister? She lived through what had to be**** living with MLK and all the bullshit of the mindsets of the 50's through today. Coat tail rider? Who's tail did she ride? Is it her fault she married one of the most important men of the century? Just wondering.

Neither Reagan nor Nixon said anything anywhere near as poignant as MLK did.

Wishing a lady dead? What kind of ass-hattery is this? Surely, whatever beef you have with her or whatever isn't so much that you actually wish someone dead for it.

Abortion is murder! I hope the old black lady dies!

I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.

I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

I have a dream today!

Nope. MLK still wins.

I guess you weren't around for the Peter Jennings thread. It's now okay to wish anyone you disagree with politically dead.

She's a vampire. She's done nothing with her husbands enormous legacy but milk every penny out of it that she could. Tell me, in the 30 years since her husband has died, what has she ever risked or sacrificed to make life better for other people; Black, white, greeen or yellow?

I'd say MLK is rolling over in his grave, but I'm sure by now his shoulders are worn down to nubs.

that wasnt my point, and the fact that you didnt get the point does not surprise me

i just find it disgusting that the king family has essentially copoyrighted anything that mlk said or did, and the greed that they have shown.

It was considered public domain initially and then the courts reversed their decision in a case involving CBS.

http://www.law.umkc.edu/faculty/projects/ftrials/communications/estateofmlk.html

If you are using the text of a speech for an educational project or some other not for profit venture then you should be able to use the speech but if you are going to make some $$$ off of MLK's words then why shouldn't she get a cut. What makes MLK's speeches different than the Beatles' music? The Beatles get some money when their stuff is used for profit (radio stations, advertisements) why shouldn't the Kings?

See my other post. I think a bigger problem is all these companies trying to use his words to promote their products rather than the Kings trying to make a buck or two.

so based on this, ministry owes george h w bush for using the phrase "new world order"?

edit: after actually reading your link, your post is bullshit. it was a money grub from the start. after his death, they should have released the copyright into the public domain.

Sure, why not? The Verve had to pay a crapload to the Stones for "Bitter Symphony" since they sampled one of their songs. Then again, the rules may be different when you are president but I don't know.
