1/1: Pee Wee's Big Adventure--> D

1/4: Robots--> A- Robin Williams is a funny mf even animated.

1/6: The Wire-Season 2--> A Not quite as excellent as Season 1, but some pretty**** good teevee.

1/10: Monsters, Inc.--> A+ Best movie ending evar.

1/19: Spiderman 3--> C. Just needed about 3 more story lines to be totally incomprehensible. Cool "fight" scenes, tho.

The Big Lebowski = D
Originally saw this in the theater when it was first released. Didn't care much for it then. Everybody tells me oh it's great; yada, yada, yada. You have to see it again. So I gave it another shot. I still don't think much of it. Mostly boring, with an occasional funny line here and there.

I tried watching that. Got through about 15 minutes and had to give up.

Signed.

I tried watching it twice. Got through more than 15 minutes, but less than half the movie. I thought there was something wrong with me. I didn't like Fargo as much as I was supposed to either. I must be teh stoopid.

The Fountain - A+ (up from a B for Rachels Weiss showing her boob.)

Interesting story that I bet was a great book.

Fargo, I loved.
I'll watch any Coen brothers movie. Didn't think much of Barton Fink either though, and Hudsucker Proxy was just OK. Everything else they've done that I've seen has been exceptional in my opinion.

1/21 Juno It gets an A+. Ellen Page is very funny and also believable in the title role. It's a great story that doesn't sell out to sappiness at all. Every character in the film plays their role to perfection.

Baseball starts next weekend. I will be lucky to watch 2 a month.

edit: After reading the Grand Slam thread, I realize that we may not define "month" in the same way, so I will just say that I will be watching fewer movies in any given 30-day segment once baseball starts back up in earnest.

Karla - C movie about Karla Homolka (sp?) and Paul Bernenado(sp?) the Canadian serial killer couple. Laura Prepon from That 70s show plays Karla and is really good. The movie is kind of boring and by the book if you know about the case or have seen the tv specials about it.

Superman Returns - C. No clue why I watched this. My kid is really into Superman right now and even though she wasn't around I rented it. The dude playing Superman is vanilla ice cream. Kate Bosworth is as well. Good effects and not horrible, just wasn't good.

Any movie with Kate Beckinsale in a leather suit for an hour and a half starts at a B. Adding werewolves and vampires just makes it better.

The Kingdom: A - How this movie didn't get more pop is beyond me. There's a great chases scene and the action sequences are gripping. Good story that touches on lots of the political layers involved.

Atonement: Ugh.

Beautifully filmed, well acted, yet I died a little inside.

We expect a full report. I'm on the fence about this for rental or big screen.

Netflix:
The 3 Bourne flicks all at once over the last few days. We saw 1 and 3 at the theatre, but missed 2. All are solid - B

Watch the last one this weekend. I give it a C+/B-. Too much of the handheld shaky cam during the fight scenes.
