So if I can't read French it means he isn't waived. That is bullshit.

Hopefully, this means that there has been some progress on the Ilya Nikulin front.

Well if the iGoogle translation is correct then it certainly makes me feel better than the crazy "He's an important part of our team" business. Too bad no one will just take him off our hands.

Babblefish - sounds like we're buying him out (waivers first then buyout):

The contract of Zhitnik will be repurchased
Saturday June 28, 2008

Alexei Zhitnik is with the turn of the defender Alexei Zhitnik of Thrashers d' Atlanta to see itself showing the door.

Its team decided to submit her name to the ballot with an aim of repurchasing her contract s' it n' is not claimed by l' one of the 29 other formations of the Bettman circuit. L' last year, Zhitnik marked three goals and obtained five master keys in 65 parts.

If no one claims him and we buy him out then we'll have $1.75mil in dead cap money for 2 years.

Another addition by substraction, this is what this team is good at ! Well I guess, this is only true because we're also very good at substraction by addition

It's not like the payroll will anywhere near the cap the next two seasons, so big deal. How much is Zhitnik actually going to be paid from this buyout?

Now from Russia:

"The Glass Rod of Failures" indeed....

Atlanta” advanced [Zhitnika] on the glass rod of the failures

28.06.2008 21:02The government “of Atlanta” advanced on the glass rod of the failures of the Russian defender of Aleksey [Zhitnik], overseas press informs.

In the past season 25- summer hockey player conducted in the composition “Of [tresherz]” of 65 matches, collected 8 (3+5) points.

On the Nikulin front...they are still talking and he does have an out clause in his Kazan contract.

That's better than the $3.5 million of dead cap space last year and this year.

Well - I'm going to put positive spin on this. DW hinted that there was a Thrasher who had problems last year who is expected to rebound this year. So maybe we can assume that Kozlov turns it around and with Zhitty being gone then both those problems are fixed?

I think "waivers" is the most misspelled word on the board.

Here's a rough translation of the relevant part of the article as currently posted. My French is a little rusty, but it's serviceable.

quote:

The money ought to come out of DW's contract.

Did you ex suck as much as DW?

I think it's fair to say that every move he has made since the lockout to improve the club has been a disaster.

He's made more than his share of mistakes but saying every move since the lockout was a disaster is a bit much. Getting Hossa (that was after the lockout, right? ... too many concussions... memory not so hot anymore) was not a disaster. Even though he could not be signed, getting a good return for him was a solid move. I think smaller signings like Perrin, Recchi, Sim, Petro, etc, were also good moves. At the very least they were not disasters.

Rucchin, Overpaying Holik, not signing Savard, Zhitnik.... yeah- disasters.
