Erik Christensen on XM this morning
Christensen on the XM this morning was discussing the difference playing for his 3 most recent teams.

Obviously, Pittsburgh was a pretty good team when he was there, so it was fun. Anaheim right now is a lot of fun. Atlanta, on the other hand, was a very difficult place to play due to the problems with ownership. Evidently, the lawsuit is a distraction to some and bejeebus, I hope someone/anyone gets that info at the Spirit Group.

Of course, they probably know all about this already and just don't care.

Christensen has shown lately the skills that he has. Playing with Selanne has something to do with that, along with being on team with a clear cut number one line. He's playing with a lot less pressure.

Zing to Christensen ! Good post Falconer, if our millionaires get distracted by lawsuits, where is the world going??? As far as his play in the playoffs, he's barely more visible than Joe Snowman Thornton, and that's not a compliment !

Sweet. Christensen is paving the way for excuse making. Just so you guys know- next time I miss a wide-open shot (which will be soon) or give up a soft goal (probably even sooner) its because I'm worried about meeting deadlines at work and its making it difficult for me to play.

Here's the link to the Duck site. You can find the interview there. It's option 2 in the main box. It may not change your mind, but I think you should listen to the interview.

Frankly, I think he was spot on in his comments. He wasn't making any excuses, just a comment that the owners fighting makes it difficult for the whole organization to be focused on winning.

I'd put it above "barely". A few times EC has looked like a force out there. Where the f was that when he was a Thrash? Kudos to the Ducks scouting for picking up on whatever tiny traces of talent and drive were there during his stint in Atl.

As for Thornton... **sigh** What a limbo state the Sharks are in. No team's going to trade their best player for him. Trading him for "pieces" and/or draft picks, they can't possibly get equivalent value back. But he's clearly not the right tonic for post season. Sad to think of being "stuck" with a still-young superstar.

Q: Going from Pittsburgh to Atlanta to Anaheim, Erik how has the transition been for you going to Anaheim CA, adapting to a new situation on and off the ice?

EC: "Well it hasn't been that big. I've been through this situation before a few times, coming through two different teams but I've been pretty fortunate this time--to come to a team that's really well coach, that has a lot of great players and has a history of winning and knows what it takes to win. It feels a lot like it does when I was in Pittsburgh--Atlanta it's a tough spot, it's a tough spot to play with the owners over there fighting. It makes it tough for that organization to just focus on hockey and work on improving and getting better. Getting traded was surprising but in the end it's worked out well for me."

Interesting. I get paid a fraction of what he does and despite the constant worry of my job getting sent to India or Brazil I still do my job well enough that get very good reviews from my management and my peers.

Wuss.
