The Octo-cluster released the following statement shortly after the NY Post's report. “As has been shared publicly for more than a year, we are interested in finding minority investors and have engaged a firm to assist us in that effort. We have no plans to move either team, and remain committed to the Hawks, the Thrashers, Philips Arena and the city of Atlanta.” Sounds like a classic "non-denial denial" to me. It also sounds like we're screwed. The Thrashers are as good as gone the way I interpret things. I hope to God I'm wrong. |

The even sadder part is that if the Thrashers had been a consistently winning team with real post-season aspirations of at least second round progression, Philips would be near packed for most games. Atlanta has a fickle sports crowd. They support winners and ignore losers. Hockey's success in Atlanta, with almost a 1:1 correlation, is dependent on the whether the team can win or not. If the team leaves Atlanta, it's due to grossly inept management by ownership. |

Shit, if they bail out and dump the team, what can we do?**** but bitch about it on a message board. Whooptyfuckindo. Everyone here should've been at the minimum preparing for the worst case scenario. It's no secret this is a dickriding sports town. If you aint winning in ATL, you aint shit. If you're above .500, you the shit. Point blank. And the Thrashers have unceremoniously sucked straight hardwood since they been in the league. That bullshit in 04 i think it was when we got swept by the god**** rangers aint even worth bringing up. That wasnt progress, or a bright spot. That was luck. If they decided to move us, it shoudnt be a shock unless youre the rose-colored glass type. Piss poor attendance, lagging corporate sponsorship(which USED to be our strongpoint), AND continuously under-acheiving squads on the ice are only a few reasons this franchise is doomed. I'd hate for us to be nixed, but, straight up, the writing's on the wall unless something drastically positive happens this year and next. Otherwise, winnipeg/hamilton/etc HERE WE COME! |
