the fix was in long ago!
so last night the former Thrashers, now the "new" Jets played in Newfoundland. every year Kraft and CBC have a contest (and I think it's a reality tv show too. Canadian tv makes me sad) called "Hockeyville" and award an NHL pre-season game to a small Canadian market. I remember many months ago when they announced that the teams would be the "Thrashers and Senators" that I felt sorry for whoever won because they'd be getting 2 crappy teams. they usually announce the winners in the early Spring. maybe it's because I love a good conspiracy theory but it just seems a little too convenient that this year's winner just happens to be right next door to the new home of Winnipeg's AHL team, the St. John's Ice Caps:

It just so happened that nearby Conception Bay South, N.L., won the chance to host the pre-season game as part of the annual Kraft Hockeyville contest. That hard-won victory nicely dovetailed with the move of the Atlanta Thrashers to Winnipeg, while the AHL's Manitoba Moose became the St. John's IceCaps.

kind of makes you go "hmmmmm......"

I watched part of the game yesterday afternoon, and during the telecast I thought I heard the announcers mention that the game was moved from Conception Bay to St. John's because due to the arena (either size or something else). So, they play the game on the Jets' AHL's team home ice. That St. John's team is also owned by the Jets.

it's 30 minutes from one to the other. that'd be like Kennesaw winning but having the game in Atlanta. if I lived in the original winning town I'd be pissed as these games are usually in small local rinks.

I SAW THE FIRST SEASON WHEN I WAS STILL UP THERE

AS I REMMEBER THE GOAL OF THE SHOW IS TO BUILD A NEW ARENA FOR WHOEVER NEEDED IT THE MOST. SO IF THERE ARENA IS RUN DOWN RIGHT NOW THATS A GOOD EXCUSE TO MOVE IT TO THE BIG ARENA AND SELL MORE TIKETS. THAT ARENA IS PRETTY FAMOUSE FOR BEEN A MONEY PIT IF I RECALL
